Record numbers to compete at American JavFest Friday, July 18 and Saturday, July 19 East Stroudsburg, PA - The eleventh American JavFest will be contested on Friday, July 18, and Saturday, July 19, at East Stroudsburg South High School, in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. The eleventh annual event will be the largest throwing event in the United States. A record 200+ athletes from 27 states and two Canadian provinces are competing over the two-day competition. Heading into the competition, Curtis Thompson, last year’s winner, is the only American to have met the world championship qualifying standard (85.50 – 280’6”). Thompson is not scheduled to compete this year. World Athletics has provided a tool found HERE that can be used to identify those athletes from their respective countries who have qualified for the 2025 World Athletics Championships. The World Athletics Championships will be held at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, from September 13 - 21, 2025. Top JavFest entries include: Men - Three of the top five entries have thrown their personal best this season. Tim Glover (Normal, IL) - Glover opens up his season having posted a throw of 76.45 meters (250’ 10”) last year in April. A two-time NCAA Champion at Illinois State has a best of 84.09 (275’10”). In 2022, he finished 24th at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, OR. Kevin Burr (East Hampton, NJ) - Burr threw a personal best of 75.19 (246’8”) on May 2 at the Big Orange Invite, Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium, Knoxville, TN to take first place. Burr just completed his sophomore year at the University of Tennessee. He finished 23rd at this year’s NCAA DI Track and Field Championships. Colin Winkler (Bristol, CT) - Winkler threw a personal best of 74.97 (245’11”) on June 11. In 2023, he finished 19th at the NCAA DI Track and Field Championships and won the Big East Outdoor title. He’s a two-time Big East Champion. Tyson Schiele (Whitby, Ontario, Canada) – Whitby set a personal best of 73.15 (240’0”) on April 18. He is currently ranked second in Canada. Ethan Shalaway (Barto, PA) - Shalaway’s season best of 72.89 (239’1”). His best throw, 80.08 (262’8”) was set in 2022. He’s currently ranked #8 in the US. Chris Fredericks (Palmerton, PA) – Fredericks, the hometown favorite, threw 71.76 (235’5”) to finish third at the NCAA DII Track and Field Championships, competing for East Stroudsburg State. Women - Ince the class of the field, but several up and comers looking for big throws Ariana Ince (Colorado Springs, CO) - the fourth best thrower in American history, 64.38 (211-02), threw a season best of 55.93 (183-06) at the Konopacka Warsaw Classic, in Warszawa, Poland on June 22. That was the 20th-best throw by an American this season. She finished 22nd in qualifying at the 2024 Olympic Trials. Sarah Blake (Chelsea, AL) - Blake set a personal best of 55.71 (182’9”) at the USATF Throws Festival at University of Arizona’s Roy P. Drachman Stadium in Tucson, AZ on May 24. As a senior at Mississippi State this year, she finished 9th at the SEC Championships. Casey Bogues (Westchester, PA) – As a senior at Dayton, she won the Atlantic 10 Championships for the fourth time with a season best of 53.12 (174’3”). She is a two-time NCAA DI finalist with a best finish of 11th in 2021. Emma Yungeberg (Ann Arbor, MI) – Yungeberg, who finished her junior year at the University of Michigan, threw a personal best of 53.08 (174’1”) to place fourth at the Big Ten Championships on May 16. She finished 17th at this year’s NCAA DI Championships and finished 14th in 2024. Pascale Dumont (Waterloo, Quebec, Canada) – Dumont threw a season best of 48.48 (159’0”) at the Ian Hume Invitation in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada. That ranked her 12th best in Canada this year. Elizabeth Bailey (Wildwood, MO) - Bailey set her personal best of 54.22 (177’1”) in finishing fourth at the NCAA DI East Regional at the University of Kentucky. She went on to finish 21st at the NCAA DI Track and Field Championships Boys - A rematch of the nation’s top two ranked throwers. Nolan Carey (Corry, PA) – The senior set a new personal best, 67.11 (220’2 1/4”) in finishing second at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. It was his lone defeat in 13 competitions. Bryson Jacobs (Drexel, MO) – The junior set a new personal best, 67.13 (220’3”) in winning the Nike Outdoor Nationals. He completed an undefeated season in the javelin this year- 13 wins in all. He won the MO State Championships for the first time this season. Thomas Bannon (Rockville, CT) - the senior lost only once this season, a fifth place finish at the New Balance National Outdoors. There he threw 60.73 (199’3”). He’s a two time CT State Champion with a best of 64.54 (211’9”) Thomas Lloyd (Whitehall, PA) - The senior set his personal best of 64.03 (210’1”) in winning the PIAA 3A District XI meet. He went on to finish second at the PIAA State Championships 61.56 (202’0”). He finished 14th at the Nike Outdoor Nationals with a throw of 187’10”. Cable Gray (Chelmsford, MA) - The junior set a personal best of 63.60 (208’8”) in finishing fourth at the Nike Outdoor Nationals. He also won the MIAAA Meet of Champions with a mark of 63.24 ( 207’6”). Nathan Haas (PA) - The senior won the PIAA State Championships 62.28 (204’4”). He finished sixth at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals with a mark of 60.29 (197’10”). Girls - Four of this year’s top rated throwers go head to head. Ava Flicker (Collegeville, PA) - Flicker had the third-best throw this season, 50.11 (164’5”). She finished fifth at the PIAA State Championships with a throw of 44.32 (145’5”). McKayla Keck (Owingsburg, PA) - The senior set her personal best of 49.58 (162’8”), winning the PIAA 3A District XI Championship. She finished second at the Nike Outdoor Nationals with a mark of 46.10 (151’3”). Brett Jones (Johns Island, SC) - the senior won adidas Outdoor Nationals June 20 with a mark of 43.02 (141’2”). Her best throw this season was 50.74 (166’6”). She has no losses this season. McKenna Lay (Pacific, MO) - The junior finished third at the Nike Outdoor Nationals with a mark of 45.13 (148’1”).
